How do I find my water stopcock?
The stopcock is usually under the kitchen sink, in the garage or utility room, or beneath a cover in the front garden. Turn it clockwise to shut off water to the house in emergencies.
What causes uneven heating in radiators?
Radiators often trap air pockets at the top, reducing the area that heats. Bleeding air from the bleed valve at the radiator's top restores full heat output.
Can a plumber install a new boiler?
Only an engineer registered with the gas safety regulator may legally work on gas boilers. A plumber can install pipes, water connections and heating system components around a new boiler.
What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Turn off the water at the stopcock immediately. Turn off the heating and open taps to drain remaining water. Call for urgent repair. Place towels or buckets under the leak to limit damage.
